Tiny Houses

Tiny Houses

They are real exotics among apartments. And not because they are particularly ostentatiously decorated or furnished in a particularly extroverted way. They are just very small. We are talking about Tiny Houses.

People who live in Tiny Houses have made it their vocation to travel economically or to have to travel economically. Especially if you do not have much space available, you might get the idea to rent a storage room for all extra things.

This is flexibly possible at Lager.de. In an outdoor self-storage park, you can rent your storage according to your own wishes and flexibly change the size.

But what are actually these Tiny Houses and what purpose do they serve ? Lager.de now goes into this in a little more detail.

These are Tiny Houses

For Tiny Houses there are also still different names like for example living boxes, single or module houses. In times of housing shortage and progressive urbanization, you can live in these Tiny Houses in a very confined space. At the same time, they are a real alternative for both permanent moving in and short term renting.

In most cases, these tiny houses also have a trailer hitch and are therefore quite easy to move around, which is why they are often used by students. Thus they are a helpful alternative.

Monetary reasons in particular make the difference between mobile houses and expensive condominiums or rentals. The living boxes start at five thousand euros, continue in the medium price segment at around 20 thousand euros and the luxury variants cost 50 thousand euros.

Where does this idea come from?

Like so many innovations, Tiny Houses originally came from the USA. The self-storage industry also got its start there. In the meantime, you can also rent storage space from many providers in Germany.

The idea for Tiny Houses was born during the financial crisis in 2007 and 2008, when Americans were looking for alternatives to their unaffordable apartments. This movement then spilled over into Europe.

On another continent, however, the idea is anything but new. In heavily populated Asia, there are a lot of people living in the big cities, and they all have to live there somehow. This has not just been the case there since yesterday. The novelty is probably most likely the houses on wheels.

In Germany, too, demand for these cute-looking houses has risen sharply in recent years. Since with the demand also the offer rises, also the professional offerers became ever more.

Tiny House Villages

In Mehlmeisel, there is even an entire village full of tiny houses populated by old and young as well as rich and poor. The core idea, they say, is that of minimalism. That they are not alone with this idea is shown by the planning of several more Tiny House Villages, i.e. villages with the mobile small houses.

However, these tiny houses only become particularly effective in the big cities, where the population centers are located and many people pursue their jobs. For the same reason the camps of Lager.de are rentable above all in the large cities.

The Tiny Houses are therefore also long a topic in the policy, where it is discussed, how and where the houses may be parked.

Tiny Houses in the media

In the media, the tiny houses are mainly shown in connection with homeless people who do not have to freeze in winter. This is thanks to the association "Little Home", which enables homeless people to spend their night in the small living boxes free of charge.

How the Tiny Houses are used

Meanwhile, some people are even building their own Tiny House, both as a leisure project and out of necessity.

The first parallel that people associate with Tiny Houses is probably camping trailers. However, the big difference with campers is the interior. Tiny Houses are built and furnished like a real home.

DIY living boxes

However, before you just start building, there are then still some things to consider. Because with such a construction there are regulations.

There are difficulties with insurance and financing, because the German offices are not yet used to this form of living.

The boxes are in no way intended for a family, because they do not have the necessary space and therefore offer less living comfort than a real apartment. Permanent living is possible only with a building application.

However, there are some advantages: manageable construction costs, quick completion, low maintenance costs, little time spent on maintenance and care, and a whole new mobility.

To whom this project does not appear however as too daring and nevertheless does not want to separate from its other things, which can rent also simply a storeroom.

The best place to do this is Lager.de.
